It's a Pink Saturday--Pink Ribbon Post! Thanks Beverly.
I recently created this amazing and awesome quilt, called ZuZu's Petals. It is made with browns and pinks from the Pretty in Pink fabric collection. The quilt will fit any queen sized bed, very nicely. This quilt has become very special to me, but there is something even more special happening regarding this quilt. My best friend ( who is only 37) from college has been "fighting the good fight" with breast cancer for 2 1/2 years. We were recently reconnected after 16 years of separation; but, we reconnected thanks to Facebook. My best friend has put together a cruise for next February, Valentine's Day 2010 and it will sail out of Galveston, the Carnival Ectasy going to Cozumel. The price for this cruise is $525 per person. So if you like cruising, or ever thought about taking one, this would be an excellent opportunity to do so and help a worthy cause. The money raised from the cruise will benefit the American Cancer Society and the Komen Foundation to help patients with cancer. So many thousands of people are diagnosed each year with some form of Cancer.
Each of us get the opportunity of a lifetime, each day, to be a blessing to someone else. So many cancer patients are the most giving people you will ever meet, because they live for the moment, because tomorrow is never, ever promised. If you would like more information on the cruise, or would like to make a donation, please leave me a comment with your contact info. It only takes one life, that touches another life, to ripple out and back in, to reach many people and forever change their lives. Make a Ripple today.
I have decided to raffle off this special quilt to help raise money for awareness for Breast Cancer and to benefit the Cruise for a Cure. This quilt will be awarded during the Cruise for a Cure in February 2010. Chances are $1.00 each or 6 chances for $5.00. This is not an online quilt raffle. This quilt will be drawn for next February, on the Cruise, I just wanted to show everyone what the quilt looks like that we are raffling. It's a Perfect Pink Saturday Post!

This morning I was planning on sleeping in a bit, but was awaken to my husband telling me I needed to come see Ed Young on the morning show. Ed Young is a pastor at the Fellowship Church in Grapevine, TX (outside of Dallas). We live about 5 hours north of Dallas, so we only get to see Ed's Sunday morning teaching series via DVR or Internet. I have been a dedicated supporter of Ed Young ministries for about 5 years now. The bible has never been easier to understand, with Ed's everyday life perspective on the teachings and stories of the bible.
Ed Young was on the morning show this morning with Connie Chung talking about his new teaching series, LEAVING LUST VEGAS! In this teaching series, he has offered a CHALLENGE--- for married couples -- 7 days of sex! My husband, woke me up this morning to come see Ed talk to Connie Chung about his challenge to have sex with your spouse for 7 days beginning this Sunday. It is a way to take your marriage to a whole nuther level. Needless to say, my husband was ready, willing and excited to accept this challenge. Ed's book "Creative Marriage" addresses this subject as a vital necessity to any marriage. Joe wasn't too interested in reading Ed's book, (not his type of reading material) but Ed talks alot about sex in the marriage in his books.
I encourage you to watch the following short video clip:
In this message, Ed Young presents an unprecedented challenge to married couples. And as he does, he reveals God’s plan for marriage and sex, and how the two can actually work together to get us all out of Lust Vegas and take us to a place of grace.

Well, ladies fall is here and winter is approaching and that means MORE and MORE time on the sewing machine. And the EXCITING news is .... is that my good friend and fellow quilter, Donna Francis at www.donnasintheattic.typepad.com is having a "Turning Twenty Party." She is going to be hosting the party and the winner of the party will receive a FREE machine quilting. I do hope that you fellow quilters and even non-quilters will join the party. Yeah! It's Pink Saturday and I hope it's a bright and cheerful one for each of you. Today's Pink Saturday post is a quilt that I did about 3 years ago, called "Sunshine and Shadows" or aka "Trip Around the World" The fabrics in this quilt are from the "Victoria'a Scattergarden collection by Debbie Beaves. This pattern is very simple to make and the quilts are so beautiful whenever finished. I do hope that the pink jumps out of this quilt, as you enjoy Pink Saturday.

Well, I couldn't resist following the Pink Saturday post, with yet another flannel baby quilt. I think it's only fitting that I show you a quilt for a little boy. This particular quilt was made about this time last year, as I finished it the first week on December just in time for the little guy's arrival. I had been selling some of my quilts on ebay and shipping them through the local post office and the postmaster asked one day about how much I would do a baby quilt for. So, after finding just the perfect fabric, I was at the cutting mat and sewing machine and in no time had this crib size baby quilt ready for the early arrival of the postmaster's grandson. The white fabric, is so dreamy.. it is called "baby roses" it is furry and swirls and is OH SO SOFT. Well I better wrap this up, as I need to go rest my tired body. I worked outside all day today. It started with cleaning out the flowerbeds and digging up all the monkey grass in my flowerbeds, then I started planting mums and pansies. Then decided I better get some things that won't winter outside planted into large indoor pots, so they can be brought inside for the winter. I had hoped to get my front door decorated with my fall wreath and leaves vine, but didn't make it before it started getting dark. I did get my porch cleaned off and swept. AAAHHHH finished just in time to come in and start dinner. After working outside all day and taking my car to the carwash and getting new tires put on, I am completely worn out. So the family got Hamburger Helper for dinner. I am looking forward to seeing all my pretty flowers blooming in the morning. Enjoy this cut quilt.

Today, is my official 2nd Pink Saturday post and you are going to love this quilt. It was one of my favorites. This girly girl baby quilt was made about 3 years ago for a lady I worked with who wanted something for her great grandbaby's arrival. I decided to use the ever popular "Yellow Brick Road" pattern and some Awesome pink baby flannels and away I went. I made this quilt in a weekend and ended up selling it for $100. I am very proud of this quilt even though I made it with someone else in mind, and sold it. I never got to make girly quilts. My boys would frown on the whole "Pink" thing. Anyway, I could hardly wait to show you. I would love the opportunity to make another one for someone awaiting a precious baby girl, so if you ever need a baby quilt, just remember me. Hope you like this Pinkalicious Baby girl post.
The baby feet is the backside of the quilt.

Back about 5-6 years ago, when I was a newbie to quilting and attending a bi-monthly quilt class, everyone in my class was working on a "Democratic Rose" quilt. This particular quilt was an appliqued wall hanging. Our instructor, Janie VanZandt had put together some kits to purchase and we all purchased a kit and began our merry way. I was a little reluctant at first, because I didn't have a very fancy machine and appliqueing wasn't something I had ever tried. But I did and I made my first ever appliqued quilt (wall hanging). It turned out absolutely gorgeous and I was very happy that I had reluctantly stepped out of the box and made this quilt. I showed my grandmoher, the final "masterpiece" and she thought it was very beautiful and "OOOHHED" and "AAAWWWWed" over how pretty it was. So one day when she came for a visit, I slipped the quilt into a trash bag and sneaked it into the backseat of her car. Several days later, upon finding the quilt in her backseat, she called and asked me why it was there. I told that it was hers to keep, that it really would go with her green couch and chairs better than my burgandy and black furniture. She has placed this quilt over the middle of her green couch and it looks absolutely beautiful there. It goes very well with her furniture. Every time someone comes to visit, it is a conversation piece and she gets to tell them what a unique talent her granddaughter has making quilts at the sewing machine. She is absolutely right about the talent, and that talent was given to me by my "MAKER." I am a child of the most high GOD and he has blessed me with the awesome ability to sew and make beautiful sewing creations, aka quilts. Thank you Lord. I AM BLESSED! Hope you enjoy today's quilt post.
